I received a call from a young woman who told me she had been hit by a truck while crossing the street in Manhattan on her way to work. She told me she suffered multiple lacerations to her forehead and head, she was knocked unconscious, suffered a severely fractured wrist, and was taken to a nearby trauma center by ambulance for emergency treatment. She was now sitting at home recuperating trying to find out who would pay her medical bills that she had just incurred as well as her future medical bills that she was sure to have over the next year.
My investigation revealed that this woman was hit by a Mack truck while crossing the street at the intersection of 23rd Street and 1st Avenue in Manhattan. She was in the crosswalk, walking with the green light and the walk signal when she was carelessly hit by a huge demolition Mack truck knocking her to the ground. What made this case so interesting was that there were 3 separate traffic signs for motorists to yield to pedestrians in the crosswalk.
This woman came to me asking for help to guide her through the process of making a claim against the truck’s insurance company. Ultimately, she needed to file a lawsuit in order for her to get compensated for the pain and suffering she endured through no fault of her own. Watch the video to learn more about this woman’s tragedy in a New York City intersection.
